Choosing a wristwatch can be a bewildering experience as they are so many varieties. Different makes, models, and variants are released every year. The world of a watch is so large that we won’t be able to buy a watch for many years if we decide to study all the watches available.


The wristwatch apart from being a fashion statement for men is also a form of expression and personal statement of the individual. It is considered to be a status symbol by many.



There are five types of men wristwatches when it comes to style. The types are Field, Racing, Dress, Diver, and Aviator. Let us have a look at each type which would help you in choosing the right watch.


Field watch is the descendant of the pocket watch of World War I and by World War II, they were issued in the army. They can be worn with everything from coats, khakis to jeans and a t-shirt. For those who prefer simple rugged style, it is the best bet.


Chronograph and tachymeter are the defining features of a racing watch and it was TAG Huer who created the standard, although Rolex was the first company to capitalize on it. They are suitable for casual wear.


Dress watches are thin in size and are for a formal occasion with a Suit or tuxedo. They are not flashy and the band is either leather or metal.


Diver Watch is one of the common types one would come across in men sporting. It is basically designed for underwater use and has all metal casing. It can be worn with almost everything be it sportswear, casual wear or formal wear.


Aviator watch is a good fit for casual wear. The prominent feature of aviator watch is the chronograph. Similar to the field watch has a rugged and simple design.
